Those who visited my original Blog remember that I am famous or more likely, infamous, for begging, pleading and/or encouraging people to comment.... This will not be one of those rants :)
Thanks in no small part to HardKnight, Evie and Nadine, my feelings of not being noticed/appreciated for my work are doing just fine. I'm feeling a little blonde at the moment, because a few trends just became painfully obvious to me over this past weekend...
1.) Most people never go past page one of a Blog
2.) Of the people that DO go past page one of a Blog, most of them feel like it's not a good idea to comment on older works, because nobody will notice/read the comments...
3.) Once a caption is no longer the First post in a blog, the chances it will receive any meaningful comments decrease exponentially...
4.) Most caption-Makers post at MOST once per day. More common is once every 2-4 days.
5.) Most caption-viewers only check Blogs 1-2 times per week..
6.) The "My Blog List/Blogs I Follow" gadget/widget, shows only the most recent posting on any Blog that you follow.
This combination of observations lets me know that for this world, I just generally post too fast :) A lot of my stuff is never even seen by the majority of my viewers who rely on the gadget to show them "new" posts, but don't realize it is my fourth or fifth "new" post since last time they looked at the gadget :)
A lot of caption-makers get around this problem by deliberately slowing production to match this slow consumption rate.... I don't see myself doing that. When I make a new cap that I am proud of, I literally HAVE to post it.. it's my OCD showing :) Other caption-makers hold off until they have several new captions to post in a group, to give everyone time to digest the last new group and comment. I don't see myself doing that either. (see above).. I am generally very proud of my individual captions. Justified or not, I feel they deserve not to be lost in a crowd :) I hate it when I post 5 caps at a time and get general "nice work" comments only, or at most, "the Maid is my favorite one"...
So like I said.. this is not a rant.. I am pleased with the level of coments I have been receiving. I would like to encourage you, if you are a fan of this Blog or my work, that you take the time to make sure you don't miss any posts due to my excessive postings :) But that's up to you...
I DO read all comments, even if I don't always respond, and I do appreciate them!
Thanks to EVERYONE who takes the time to comment.. Even a simple "Thanks" or "Nice Cap" lets me know that I am not just making these for myself, Nadine, Evie & HardKnight :) I wish everyone Happy Holidays!
